The Lead Technical Accountant will research, evaluate and document appropriate accounting guidance on the accounting for complex and unique transactions (including acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings and other strategic initiatives), oversee the evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards under both US GAAP and IFRS, and develop financial statement disclosures for significant topics. This role is mobile with 2 days required onsite at our Cranberry Township, PA HQ location.
Your Day to Day: Provide technical accounting consultation on new or complex transactions to the Westinghouse management team, owners, and business partners Research major technical accounting issues in accordance with relevant US GAAP and IFRS requirements, ensure the appropriate documentation, analysis and review process is timely and appropriately completed Lead Westinghouse evaluation and adoption of new US GAAP and IFRS standards as required via research, policy and procedure development, implementation planning and execution, system specification development and communication to constituents Ensure US GAAP to IFRS differences applicable to Westinghouse are identified and appropriately accounted for through completion of a quartelry checklist, review of new guidance or transactions, and consultation with business partners across the organization Contribute to parent company financial reporting under IFRS and the creation of standalone company financial statements under US GAAP, including specialized accounting footnote disclosures Establish Westinghouse global accounting policies and control processes to ensure compliance and consistency of results in accordance with required GAAP, IFRS and SOX Develop and deliver training to the Westinghouse Finance community and other constituents as needed regarding Westinghouse global accounting policies and processes
Who You Are: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years accounting/finance experience, public accounting experience preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Experience researching and applying accounting guidance for complex and unique transactions Ability to write effective and clear accounting position papers and policies Knowledge of accounting processes, US GAAP and/or IFRS; financial statement development, including creation, format, and necessary supporting documentation SEC reporting experience a plus Working within a SOx environment Strong communication skills to lead, inform and educate effectively Have the skills to participate in complex information sharing. Frequent contacts are made intra-departmentally to discuss assignments, implement new or existing accounting or finance policies and procedures, and to coordinate flow of information from accounting or finance departments. Frequent contacts are also made with Westinghouse team members to analyze and interpret reports and transactions.
