Position Description

Job Purpose:

  • Install and maintain single and multi-phase electrical power feed and branch circuits including conduit, service control wire, fuse and breaker panels, switches, control sensors, outlets, junction boxes, lighting fixtures, splices, connectors, and ground wiring for red and black installations. Will be required to work on and must be familiar with low voltage single phase and 480v to 138kv three phase circuits. Ensures that the material utilized and workmanship meets the requirements of the applicable technical codes and safety standards.

  • Participate on teams installing complex communication and control equipment.

  • Serve as a Kinder Morgan representative to contract activities working on electrical control and automation control equipment.

  • Assist with planning and scheduling of I&E Automation maintenance activities and assure work activity align with KM Operation and Engineering Teams.

  • Be responsible for ensuring top class electrical safety, regulatory compliance and environmental performance.

  • Be responsible for electrical contractor work order and invoice review.

  • Be responsible for Maintenance, PM, HSSE / Compliance, Site Inspections, and Housekeeping related to I&E Automation System area of responsibility.

  • Be responsible for strengthening team electrical knowledge and learning innovative trouble shooting skills.

  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with multiple process teams and plant level operations.

    Position Requirements

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • The candidate must have the ability to read, develop and troubleshoot PLC programs

  • The candidate must have analytical and problem solving ability

  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access)

  • The candidate must have working knowledge of SCADA systems and their functions

  • The candidate must have an excellent working knowledge of electronic end devices and controls along with the ability to repair them

  • The candidate must be skilled in reading electrical schematics, identifying components and understanding their function.

  • The candidate must be able to read P&ID (Process and Instrumentation Diagram) and PFD (Process Flow Diagram)

  • The candidate must be able to focus on attention to details and willingness to follow operating procedures

  • The candidate must be motivated and willing to work in a teamwork-oriented environment

  • The candidate must be able to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines

  • The candidate must be able to work in extreme weather conditions

  • The candidate will be expected to perform the required duties with minimal supervision

  • The candidate must accept supervision/direction and work effectively and cooperatively with other people

  • The candidate must be willing to carry a company provided cell phone, and respond when called out to address issues

    Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • An understanding of radio communications

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Four years working in automation and programming various PLC platforms

  • The candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
