TEXAS DISPOSAL SYSTEMS INC CIVIL LAND DEVELOPMENT CAD TECHNICIAN - AUSTIN in Creedmoor, Texas

JOB SUMMARY

The Civil Land Development CAD Technician uses computer-aided design software to generate designs. This position designs calculations, assists with and prepares reports, maps, exhibits and plans, draws up preliminary and construction plan sets and manages detail libraries. The Civil Land Development CAD Technician may conduct on-site visits for project assessments, when needed.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.
  2. Use computer-aided design software to generate base maps, drawings and designs for residential and commercial projects.
  3. Design calculations.
  4. Assist with and prepare reports, maps, exhibits and plans.
  5. Manage detail libraries.
  6. Under the direction of Project Manager or the CAD Manager, perform civil engineering drafting, such as site layouts, grading, erosion control, road profiles, utility plans, etc.
  7. Conduct on-site visits for project assessments, when needed.
  8. Perform jurisdictional research of standard plans, notes and details.
  9. Effectively communicate designs to construction and production teams.
  10. Draw preliminary and construction plan sets.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least three years of experience using CAD
  • At least two years of experience in civil engineering
  • At least three years of experience in infrastructure and civil site development
  • Intermediate to high level proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil3D
  • Intermediate to high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of municipal and state design standards and codes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to take high-quality notes and organize information
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated and ethical

  • Ability to handle stressful job-related situations
  • Excellent time management skills

PREFERRED SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree with courses in drafting, math, science
  • Experience with ArcGIS-based platforms
  • Autodesk certification
  • Project management experience

REQUIRED LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS

  • Valid Class C drivers license
  • Safe driving record for the last three years
