Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. A competitive fringe benefits package is offered. Responsibilities Deliver high-quality undergraduate instruction to students in the Biology, Environmental Sciences, Exercise Sciences and Wellness, and Health Sciences B.S. programs. The candidate is expected to contribute to curriculum development and program improvement; advise students; participate in recruitment and retention efforts; help expand our network with the industry to benefit our programs, student experience, and student employment opportunities. Likely teaching assignments will include Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Genetics, Histology, and Molecular Techniques; new courses may be developed based on program needs and the candidate's expertise. The position requires regular office hours and engagement in service activities on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. Candidates who wish to be considered for a tenure-track appointment are also expected to establish a research program with a relevant focus, which may include work with undergraduate students. Tenure-line appointments carry a 24.0 credit teaching load annually (typically three to four courses per semester). Candidates who wish to be considered for a full-time Lecturer appointment are not expected to establish a research agenda. Full-time lecturer appointments carry a 30.0 credit teaching load annually (typically four to five courses per semester). The position location is onsite and requires regular office hours and engagement in service activities on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. This position is not eligible for STEM or visa sponsorship. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Tenure-track candidates: Doctorate degree in Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field; ABD will be considered. Lecturer candidates: Master's degree in Biology or related field. Strong commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching at the undergraduate level. Effective English communication skills. Possess a commitment to an experiential education philosophy within the scope of the land grant mission. The final job offer is contingent upon receipt of official transcripts, a complete background check, and authorization to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Teaching and/or research experience in an academic institution. Appropriate licensure and at least three years of experience as a teacher-of-record for science/biology courses in a middle and/or high school setting. Ability to relate complex concepts to diverse audiences and to draw upon cultural and community-based knowledge in teaching. Research experience and peer-reviewed publication record at an academic institution. University curriculum development experience. Experience in engaging undergraduate students in research and dissemination of research findings. Experience developing and maintaining collaborations with relevant industry partners. Experience/track record or potential of seeking and successfully implementing externally funded projects and grants.
