Manpower Engineering is exclusively partnering with an industry leading, established and growing company on a highly visible and direct hire/permanent Director of Engineering position. The company has plants in Cuba City, WI, Monroe, WI, Darlington, WI, and Poynette, WI and this position may be based in any facility.

The company has a very strong track record of success and grew 22% over the past year and 45% over the past 2 years. The amount of new business continues to be significant and our client has never laid anyone off. Also, this position is part of the senior/executive leadership team, has a lot of ownership/decision-making rights, and is critical to the company’s continued success and will make a visible and positive impact. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Engineering is responsible for the management and supervision of the project, manufacturing and process engineering teams to ensure customer expectations are met by providing cost effective, innovative solutions for their products. Serve as a member of the senior leadership team tasked with development and execution of the company’s strategic plan. Requires excellent technical engineering knowledge coupled with program management and business planning expertise in the injection molding industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for injection molding & assembly process development, project management and delivery of customer approved production tooling to manufacturing.

  • Optimize the application of technology and engineering resources for product and process development which meet or exceed customer requirements.

  • Ensures timely delivery of customer requested quotes that provide cost effective, innovative solutions.

  • Overall responsibility for achieving project objectives on time and within budget through utilization of the company’s advanced product quality planning process.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives which add value to the company’s customers and support operational excellence goals.

  • Apply a focus on innovation and design for manufacturing when leading product development and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Assesses cost effectiveness and feasibility of the company’s corporate manufacturing processes; makes and implements improvements in safety, quality and efficiency to reduce costs.

  • Tracks cost savings of implemented projects and efficiency improvements.

  • Responsible for tooling and automation vendor selection and management.

  • Identifies and develops business cases for capital investments in automation, new process technology, etc.

  • Leads & develops the engineering teams in all areas, including providing guidance, direction and actively promote the professional growth of the engineering team.

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

  • Provides training and mentoring of the engineer co-workers, as needed.

  • Perform all job duties with a positive, collaborative, and encouraging attitude!

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.

  • Injection molding experience.

  • Experience in a leadership position with direct reports.

  • Experience leading projects from cradle to grave (quote to production – budget, timeline, etc.).

  • Must have excellent communication skills at all levels of an organization and have a demonstrated track record of results and increased responsibility throughout career.
