Timbrook Parts Counter Person in Cumberland, Maryland

A Parts Counter Person is responsible for assisting customers in finding the appropriate parts for their vehicle. They work with customers and Technicians to find accessories and order parts for repairs and upgrades to vehicles.

Specific Job-Related Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner
  • Informs customers of companion part requirements and specials; ensures that the customer is exposed to the full product line
  • Communication:
  • Answers phone calls, providing price quotes and other information
  • Notifies all necessary parties when special ordered parts have been received
  • Notifies parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention
  • Reviews body shop estimates to be sure the parts that are ordered are correct and all pricing is in line with the estimate
  • Pulls and fills orders from stock
  • Locates out-of-stock parts from outside source and submits an emergency order, if necessary
  • Pulls orders for delivery to body shop, making sure all parts are tagged with customer names and job number
  • Follows up on back-ordered parts and replenishes assigned inventory daily
  • Verifies will-call and back-order files weekly and returns to vendors; stocks items not picked up or required
  • Manages all aspects of billing and accounts payable including internal requests billed on service repair orders and direct customer payment/invoicing
  • Maintain value, quality, and integrity

General Company Related Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report to work within acceptable time frames and company standards.
  • Maintain appropriate degree of professionalism towards customers and coworkers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Parts Experienced Preferred
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong computer and phone skills (Internet, MS Outlook)
  • Experience with automotive software preferred
  • Ability to be analytical, problem solve and multi-task
  • Professional appearance and work ethic
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and computers.
  • Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Preferred, working knowledge of car parts and the tools used for cars.
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented, and ability to work within a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to lift items up to 50-75 lbs.
  • Current, valid driver's license required

Working Conditions

The employee will work indoors and outdoors in an auto shop environment.
