Shell Engineer -Digital & Drw Mgmt in Cyberjaya, Malaysia

Where you fit

The role will be part of the extended asset team supporting the LNG Canada (LNGC) Asset. This will be a key role in the IM space and needs to grow and evolve with the asset (from the project stage to steady state operations). The key aspect for this role in the first 2-3 years is working collaboratively with the LNGC team in executing the preparatory work to meet asset startup objectives. This role will eventually manage the TAO based team supporting the asset in the space of document and (including 1D/2D/3D data)

What’s the role?

The purpose of the job is to provide support to Shell's operating units in Drawing and Digital delivery space in creating and Managing Intelligent/Non-Intelligent 1D/2D/3D technical databases, design and modelling applications functioning as a Drafter /Designer/3D Modeller and Admin based on the scope and deliverables. The candidate will primarily work on AutoCAD, Microstation and PDMS/AVEVA E3D/SP3D and Hexagon applications like SPPID, SPI, SP3D/S3D, SPRD, SPIOP.

  • Relevant Experience: Onshore/offshore oil and gas industries in mechanical piping engineering, FEED, detail engineering, and as-built processes.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in drafting, detailing, reviewing, and managing technical documents and drawings.

  • Drawing Comprehension: Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings (P&IDs, Isometrics, GA, Equipment Sketches, Instrument Hook-ups, Loop Diagrams, Cable Schedules, SLD, Switchboard layouts).

  • Technical Document Management: Expertise in managing technical documents like pipe material specifications, valve material specifications, piping isometrics, plot plans, layouts, and equipment general arrangements.

  • Redline Markups: Understand and interpret corrections and redline markups. Review and update 2D drawings, vendor drawings, and design deliverables.

  • Technical Support: Provide technical support, quality checks, and recommended practices to drafters and designers.

  • 3D Modeling: Experience in 3D modeling, handling 3D software (Hexagon, Aveva tools, OCA, Navisworks), and laser scan projects. Proficiency in AVEVA E3D/SP3D modeling and related administration activities.

  • SP3D Administration: Setup, customization, troubleshooting, database maintenance, and user support for SP3D. Create and manage project deliverables and specifications.

  • SPPID Administration: Proficient in handling SPPID admin activities, setting up environments, customization, and workshare setups. Create smart P&IDs and manage meta data in drawings.

  • Cross-Discipline Understanding: Strong understanding of mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil structural, and process disciplines for model and drawing creation.

  • Training and Standards: Develop and implement user training, improve standards and processes, and ensure consistency across projects.

Role requirement

  • Qualifications: Degree or diploma in mechanical/piping engineering.

  • Experience: 8-10 years in the oil & gas/petrochemical industry, including operating assets and greenfield/brownfield projects.

  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with international codes, standards, recommended practices, and Shell Dep.

  • Mechanical Piping Engineering:

  • Design and selection of piping components

  • Creating, updating, and comprehending technical drawings/3D models (plot plans, piping GA & isometrics, P&ID/PEFS, PFD)

  • Reviewing and managing technical documents and bill of materials

  • Preferred Skills:

  • Strong knowledge in 2D tools such as AutoCAD

  • Interfacing with other disciplines to resolve design/drafting issues

  • Experience:

  • Diverse design experience in engineering/construction projects

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Information Management: Knowledge in integrated engineering systems processes and principles.
