The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) Dallas is seeking a highly motivated social worker to join our team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Social Worker 1, you will participate in the development, implementation, and coordination of social work and case management services for inmates housed at the institution. You will assess inmate psychosocial strengths and weaknesses and determine their eligibility for services. You will assist with reentry and continuity of care services to all eligible inmates and determine eligibility for various groups and special programs. Additionally, you will participate in the development and implementation of general information and orientation programs for inmates going through the reentry process.

In your daily work, you will maintain contact and communication with a range of DOC staff and community partners including parole, forensic service directors, Department of Human Services (DHS), as well as Mental Health and Mental Retardation (MH/MR) community providers to manage need-specific services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree. Special Requirement: All employees in the Department of Corrections must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification within two months of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment in the job.
