Job Description

Our Supervisor in the Ground Support and Equipment Department is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of ground support equipment. This role involves managing a team of technicians and staff, ensuring that all equipment is operational, safe, and meets regulatory standards. You will coordinate equipment maintenance schedules, respond to operational needs, and assist in training and development of staff. You will also ensure compliance with safety protocols, manage inventory, and collaborate with other departments to support efficient airport operations.

  • Supervise the daily operations of the ground support and equipment department

  • Lead and manage a team of ground support staff and technicians

  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair activities for ground support equipment

  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies among team members

  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment to maintain operational standards and safety

  • Train new staff in operational procedures and safety protocols

  • Monitor the performance of team members and provide feedback and coaching

  • Manage inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring availability for maintenance tasks

  • You have a great attention to detail

  • You enjoy working with a team or individually to accomplish your tasks

  • Like to build long term relationships with your customers

  • Physical activity may include:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time

  • Ability to lift 70 pounds or more

  • Be able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarms generated by terminal environment

  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18 years old

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, to include documents

  • 2 years of experience in supervising teams in an operational or maintenance environment, preferably in aviation

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and maintenance procedures

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Proficiency in computer systems for inventory and maintenance management

  • Flexibility with working hours, including availability for shifts during nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and tablets

  • Ability to pass a drug screen

  • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
