The permanent Controller position is situated in the Dania Beach, Florida area. This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. Candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo, will be preferred for this position. Your responsibilities
Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Must have SOX Compliance experience
Either Construction, Construction service or heavy manufacturing experience
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Requirements
Excellent attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Construction, Construction services, heavy manufacturing
Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Journal entries experience highly desired
Well-founded grasp of GAAP Accounting
Deep understanding of Prepare Financial Reports
Month end closings experience preferred
Proven knowledge of Leadership Skills
General familiarity with Construction Accounting
Prepare Financial Statements experience
Practical knowledge of financial auditing
SOX experience is required
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
