Job Summary
Under general direction of the EMH System Facilities Manager the Senior Maintenance Mechanic operates, maintains and repairs equipment and systems throughout the hospital complex. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort
The task of this job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing supplemental tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. Moderate to heavy physical effort will be required with moving and installation of equipment and furnishings. Normal stress involved with day to day operations. Works throughout hospital in patient and non-patient areas. Will on occasion be working on equipment located in hot and dirty areas. Subject to injury from cuts, burns, strains, electric shock, exposure to high temps, and contamination from different chemicals and wastes. Must be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently. Must be able to pass color blindness test.
Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents
Education: High School Graduate or GED equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited college, trade school or apprentice training program preferred.
Experience: Three to five (3-5) years experience in mechanical and/or electrical and/or building trades, preferably hospital maintenance. Previous leadership/management experience preferred.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Extensive knowledge of one or more of the trades required in maintenance and repair of the Organization’s facilities.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
Specialty certificates in Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical Master or Journeyman, or other specialty certification required. Must have a valid Kentucky Driver’s License.
