Geisinger Business Intelligence Analyst Senior - Population Health (work from home) in Danville, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

This position focuses on creating solutions for complex data analytics (reports and dashboards) to support Geisinger Health Plan Population Health initiatives. Senior analysts compile chronic condition analyses, develop program evaluation solutions, and offer clinical data analysis using claims, clinical electronic health record (EHR), and care management operational systems data. In this role, analysts are responsible for consultation, requirements gathering, development, and analysis of complex workflows and data sources in support of solution development. The position communicates summarized results to stakeholders via written narratives, graphical representations, and presentations when required. Mentors staff on Industry and Health Plan knowledge.

Job Duties

  • Produces and provides analytical and technical support for assigned projects using data analysis tools and software.

  • Performs complex analyses by utilizing a wide-range of quantitative and qualitative data sets, models, and publications (regulations, guidelines, business rules, reporting requirements and standards).

  • Performs initial consultations independently to determine business goals and requirements, functioning as content expert for specific areas of focus on the team.

  • Gathers technical specifications, designs, and develops on medium- to large-sized requests independently.

  • Designs intuitive analytic solutions (reports and dashboards) offering visualization recommendations to stakeholders based on business goals, requirements, and the intended audience.

  • Creates reports that answer multiple related questions as well as reports with linked content, drilldown, and nested parameters; Reports are formatted in a well-organized, easy to understand fashion.

  • Analyzes data output to identify and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.

  • Develops detailed recommendations and operational strategies to implement changes and present to senior management.

  • Requires support of a Lead Analyst or Manager for large projects.

  • Provides time/effort estimates for all requests, creates project plan and time/effort estimations on large projects in collaboration with stakeholders and Informatics team members as necessary.

  • Builds general knowledge and awareness of Geisinger solution architecture by shadowing and reviewing existing and new components under development.

  • Responsible for following data governance and stewardship practices as defined.

  • Creates documentation and discovery associated with all analytics solutions.

  • Identifies and escalates data quality issues while performing data profiling, testing, and validation.

  • Follows all Intake, Fulfillment, and Change Management practices per department procedures and policies.

  • Trains and mentors others on skills and competencies required for previous levels of Business Intelligence Analyst.

*Relevant experience may be a combination of related work experience and degree obtained (Associate’s Degree = 2 years; Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years, Master's Degree = 6 years).

Position Details

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Perform complex analyses using industry standard analytic tools (i.e. Tableau, SAP Business Objects) and leverage multiple data sets including, but not limited to medical claims and clinical electronic health record data; Intermediate to advanced SQL and data extraction skill.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required)
