Geisinger Radiology Facilitator - Nuclear Medicine (Full Time) (Days) in Danville, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

The main duties of the Radiology Facilitator are to assist Nuclear Technicians with setting up patient prep for Invasive procedures; placing IV Catheters; assist with Glucophage protocol, filling out patient history forms and land marking patients in gantry. 1. Schedule appointments for patients. Call patients within 24 hours to schedule appointment. 2. Responsible for ensuring exams have a proper provider’s order and proper history. Interprets provider’s orders and seeks additional clarification or additional orders as necessary. Transcribes outside orders and checks accuracy of outside orders if already transcribed. 3. Uses the telephone and paging system professionally. 4. Screens phone calls and obtains necessary information. Takes accurate, precise messages and forwards as appropriate. Takes initiative to assist or direct calls to the physician, technologist, or Team Leader. 5. Demonstrates proficiency in EPIC, Radiant, Outlook, Kronos, PACS, and Lawson applications. 6. Communicates with patients, across departments, NON-GHS physician offices, and specialties. 7. Works cooperatively with all staff throughout the system. Addresses questions/concerns as appropriate. Ensures customer satisfaction. 8. Provides instructions, directions, general information to patients and families. Assures all services have been provided. 9. Performs basic office duties including copying, faxing, filing in support of the medical staff. Ensures appropriate forms are completed. Scans forms/documents into EPIC as needed. 10. Confirms daily appointments. Updates schedule book with future exams. 11. Maintains clean work and imaging area. 12. Assists in preparing patients for exams. 13. Observes patients as needed. 14. Assists in patient positioning/lifting as needed.

Job Duties

  • Accurately types exam and treatment data into the computer; prepares consent forms and other demographic data for patients receiving treatment.

  • Transports patients to and from treatment area assisting them both on and off the table and while positioning properly for studies.

  • Transports supplies, minor equipment, X-Rays, reports, and files between departments as needed.

  • Assists Cat Scan Tech with setting up patient prep for invasive CT procedures; places IV Catheters; Assist with CT Glucophage protocol, filling out CT patient history forms, and land marking patients in CT gantry.

  • Assist with file retrieval, supply replenishment and other duties as requested.

  • Makes copies of correspondence or other printed materials, using copier, fax, or other office-based devices.

  • Always uses proper lifting techniques as demonstrated in annual body mechanics in-service.
