Job Overview

Jensen Hughes Consulting Canada Ltd. has an immediate, full-time job opening for a Lab Assistant – Dust Explosion. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a leading technical and professional life safety firm!

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong analytical and creative thinking skills, and a keen interest in laboratory testing and hazard exploration. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our experienced staff scientist, gaining valuable insights and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting laboratory tests such as go/no-go, explosion severity, MIT, MIE, LOC, MEC, and LIT, in alignment with recognized ASTM Standards.

  • Actively participating in data analysis of testing results for various materials, ensuring that findings are presented clearly and objectively.

  • Preparing detailed technical reports on dust explosivity of tested materials, ensuring clarity and inclusivity in communication.

  • Engaging with clients across North America and globally to advance fire and life safety.

  • Managing incoming sample data (SDS, sample size, test requirements) with a high level of attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Overseeing the responsible disposal of unused samples, adhering to sustainability practices.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognized Engineering Technologist program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of work.

  • Strong writing and communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate ideas in an accessible manner.
