BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Manufacturing plays a vital role overseeing light manufacturing operations and ensuring efficiency, quality, and best practice sharing. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across multiple sites.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coaches and leads the sites and teams across all MSC’s light manufacturing operations with a focus on performance, accountability, and development.

  • Identifies and executes against opportunities for process improvements within operations and supply chain.

  • Analyzes departmental financial and operational performance, prepares operations and capital budgets and monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgetary constraints.

  • Participates in special projects and takes a proactive approach to identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives into production.

  • Optimizes resource allocation, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to enhance efficiency and minimize downtime.

  • Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.

  • Develops the manufacturing plan and establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations.

  • Establishes and upholds rigorous quality control measures to maintain the highest standards of precision and quality in machined components.

  • Leads the implementation of Lean principles, tools, and methodologies to identify, prioritize, and drive process improvements across the operations.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional Sales, Operations, and Finance teams to analyze and enhance current business processes, focusing on process improvement and operational efficiency maximization.

  • Develops and implements Key Process Indicators (KPIs) to report out on the health of operations overall and at each specific location and track the success of process improvements.

  • Champions cultural change by influencing leaders and fostering a mindset of continuous improvement, teamwork, and Lean thinking at all levels of the organization.

  • Drives the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.

  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

    QUALIFICATIONS

    What You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, business, or a related field.

  • 10 years minimum experience managing in a production environment related to machined components.

  • Must have strong prior experience managing shop floor applications, extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment, and familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning systems.

  • Experience with ISO and AS Quality Management Systems.

  • Ability to work on independently multiple projects and deal effectively with employees and management.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with external and internal customers alike.

  • Strong management skills to direct, coach, and influence the team.

  • Excellent communication, management, follow up, coaching, organization and analytical skills.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Positive and professional demeanor in all interaction with colleagues, carriers, and vendors.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills with demonstrated use of data analyses and metrics to drive decision making and continuous improvement.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-building focus to support organization requirements across multiple sites.

    Bonus Points If You Have:

  • MA/MS degree, or equivalent relevant experience

  • Experience in Lean Enterprise business system/environment, including Daily Management, Kaizen, and structured Problem-Solving processes

    Other Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license may be required.

  • Position requires up to 25% of travel

    Compensation starting at $127750 - $200750 depending on experience.

    The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
