Job Summary and Primary Responsibilities

Join the NuVasive Operations Team as a Manufacturing Engineer Intern that will provide you with a terrific opportunity to expand your manufacturing experience base while gaining valuable exposure to high complexity production processes and software tools. This opportunity will help you grow in your career and we will provide training and mentorship as you hone your skills and build confidence.

  • Work closely with Shareowners to support physical production process reviews, mapping, and translation of CNC machining and finishing activities into NuVasive’s manufacturing execution system

  • Provide testing support for manufacturing execution system software implementation

  • Support the development and maintenance of production work instructions

  • Provide engineering support and assistance for quality assurance activities as needed

  • Support equipment installation, equipment and process qualifications/documentation, and facilities modifications/upgrades as needed

  • Interact cross-functionally with various other internal teams within Operations, Quality, IT, Supply Chain, and Finance

  • Assist Operations Team in identifying process improvement opportunities

  • Miscellaneous technical generation and analysis

  • Drive cycle time improvements through value stream mapping and lean principles related to Machine Processing:

  • SMED/Change over Optimization

  • Capacity/dedicated machining centers

  • PQPR Analysis

  • Machine Scheduling/Visual Management

Required Skills / Capabilities

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in an engineering field

  • Team player

  • Detail oriented

  • Eager to learn

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • In pursuit of Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline

  • Must be currently enrolled in school with a successful completion of 2 years of undergraduate studies (minimum of 60 credit hours towards Bachelor’s degree)

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Ability to provide college transcripts as well as a letter of recommendation from a faculty member

  • Candidates are responsible for their own housing and transportation during the internship

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
