Actalent Electrical Engineer in Dayton, Ohio

Summary:

We’re seeking a talented Electrical Engineer or Protection a& Control Engineer to join our team! As a key member of our organization, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our electrical systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and Evaluate: Dive into relay protection and control activities for electrical substation projects ranging from 4kV to 765KV. Your expertise will help us maintain robust systems.

  • Design and Review: Prepare and review P&C engineering designs for electrical substations. Your attention to detail will be critical in ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.

  • Collaborate: Work closely with project teams, participating in scheduling, resource planning, and cost control. Your contributions will drive successful project execution.

  • Troubleshoot and Support: Provide engineering support during installation, commissioning, and checkout. Your problem-solving skills will keep our systems running smoothly.

  • Peer Review: Review and approve P&C work by other team members, ensuring quality and adherence to best practices.

  • System Modeling: Model transmission system impedances and perform short circuit fault studies. Your insights will enhance system reliability.

  • Protection Recommendations: Conduct area protection studies and recommend settings for transmission line and station protection schemes.

  • Industry Standards: Stay up-to-date with NERC P&C standards and apply them to our projects.

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Coordinate with transmission customers and interconnected companies to address protection issues.

  • Innovate: Identify, clarify, and resolve protection and control problems through thorough analysis.

  • System-Wide Impact: Contribute to the development of protection standards for transmission and distribution stations, metering, and control applications.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of experience in Utility Electrical Engineering and Protection & Controls

  • Experience using CAPE, ASPEN, or similar software

  • Experience performing: Fault studies, Coordination studies

  • Knowledge of Power systems and Relays

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering specialization
