SUMMARY: * The Industrial / MPS Engineer's primary focus is optimization of processes that match the tooling, equipment and facility requirements and provide efficient, cost-effective production lines that utilize operators and/or robotics in a mold and assembly operation. The Industrial Engineer is also responsible for contributing to the successful launch of MAHLE products and development and implementation of Continuous Improvement projects and problem-solving processes. * MPS Implementer assists with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing goals and strategies for improving operations and processes within the organization. Facilitate training and workshops on operational excellence principles. Evaluate all continuous improvement activities and implement plans to optimize performance / processes. Being a MPS Implementer employs Lean methodologies / tools to accomplish business objectives. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develop, implement, and maintain Continuous Improvement projects that include reduction in cycle times, reduction in scrap, the improvement of processes, etc. * Assist in the education, coaching and mentoring of all employees in lean methodology and leading lean manufacturing initiatives and programs throughout the plant such as Kaizen workshop, Cycle time studies & Cycle time Diagrams, Value Stream Maps, Potential for Productivity, workflow improvement, 5S, workstation efficiency, etc. * Ability to recognize / eliminate common forms of Muda (waste) associated with assembly production. * Develop, design, teach, and implement kaizen (continuous improvement). * Optimizing facility layouts, production lines, machine operations and network performance*: Optimizes facility layouts, production lines, machine operations and network performance and organizes and manages manufacturing workflows and resources. * Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards. * Work with program management team members to meet new program launch timing. This will include the following: * Participate in design reviews. * Lead new program workshop to: * Develop and implement new line locations and layouts. * Develop individual producer tasks. * Ensure plant ergonomic requirements are met. * Develop flow charts, process FMEA's, standard work charts and WIP standards. * Complete capacity analysis documentation for customers. * Participate in product launch customer visits. * Complete run at rate documentation. * Create and enter new work centers, routings, production versions into SAP. * Review facility utilization (i.e. presses, welders, leak testers, etc.) with production to establish capacity & capital requirements. * Lead Continuous Improvement workshops for assigned areas. * Develop and maintain production rates for PTC, assembly, and Injection mold products. * Develop and maintain work centers, routings, and production versions in SAP Demonstrates drive and commitment in striving to attain results. Conveys a sense of urgency and drives issues to closure; persists despite obstacles and opposition setting high standards of performance in the pursuit of challenging goals.
