Position Summary

Responsible for the on-going maintenance, service, repair and replacement of electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems at all Campus sites. Base of operation will be the Decatur Campus.

Salary:Appropriate placement on ACCS Salary Schedule E2, Grade 03: $45,220 - $62,710

Work Hours:Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; Friday 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Maintain and repair electrical fixtures including but not limited to main panel, lighting, switches and outlets.
  2. Install/maintain electrical systems such as lighting, switches, plugs, transformers and panels. Work with consulting engineers and facilities staff to establish and implement energy saving fixtures and overall Energy Management electrical protocols.
  3. Maintain/replace landscape irrigation equipment as needed. Install
  4. Install and maintain air conditioning and heating equipment.
  5. Install, repair or replace locks, door hardware including automatic door closers.
  6. Carpentry skills including metal studs, drywall, base, door hardware, VCT tile and base.
  7. Install/repair plumbing fixtures, including sanitary sewer pipe, lift station, storm, water and compressed air lines.
  8. Install plumbing and electrical fixtures including changing ballasts and bulbs.
  9. Keep plumbing fixtures in top working condition including unclogging drains, changing out flush valves, repairing/replacing water fountains.
  10. Install, maintain and repair plumbing fixtures.
  11. Install, maintain and repair irrigation systems.
  12. Troubleshoot and resolve sanitary sewer issues. Solicit outside vendor quotes if the issue is more complex than Calhoun Facilities can address in a timely fashion.
  13. Replace lights as needed including interior and exterior.
  14. Preventative and predictive maintenance on all electrical and plumbing systems to insure continuous operation with little or no outages during peak operating times.
  15. Check motor and belts; lubricate bearings and motors, replace as needed; change filters.
  16. Calibrate electric and pneumatic thermostats and controls.
  17. Troubleshoot, monitor and set up schedules for energy management systems.
  18. Perform compressor change out; repair compressors.
  19. Repair and/or replace motors, pumps; set firing rate on gas-fired equipment.
  20. Service steam and hot water boilers, clean air conditioning and heating coils.
  21. Repair and replace electrical controls.
  22. On-call on evenings and weekends on a shared basis with other lectrical, Plumbing, Multi-Craft Technicians as well as other Facilities Team Members.
  23. Perform all duties with professionalism.
  24. Performs related work as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of post high school training in refrigeration, heating, air conditioning, plumbing and/or electrical and a minimum of three (3) years experience with commercial and industrial equipment or experience with air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, plumbing and/or electrical systems is required ORa minimum of an Associate degree from an accredited (C-RAC) institution in HVAC/Refrigeration, Electrical, Plumbing or Industrial Maintenance is required ORa minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years experience in Mechanical, Plumbing and/or Electrical Maintenance and eligible for an Alabama Apprentice Card in either Plumbing, Electrical or Pipe Fitting is required.
