Job Title: Pipefitter
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter for a project in Decatur, IL at a grain processing facility. This medium to large-scale project involves installing 3,000 feet of 36" stainless steel pipe for a new building.
Responsibilities
TIG welding 36" stainless steel pipe
Performing layouts based on blueprints
Reading and interpreting blueprints to complete layouts
Cutting pipe using handheld and power tools such as hammer and chisel, cutting torch, pipe cutter, and pipe cutting machine
Threading and bending pipes using pipe bending tools and threading machines
Assembling and installing tubes, fittings, and non-metallic attachments
Joining pipes using threads, soldering, brazing, or cemented connections
Inspecting piping systems and machinery to detect malfunctions
Creating protective pipe layers using paints and other mechanisms
Operating large oversized forklift to lift pipes, support equipment, and heavy materials
Essential Skills
Proficient in TIG welding on stainless steel
Ability to verify blueprints off field measurements
Proficient in reading prints and ISO drawings

Work Environment
The work environment is an ethanol plant located in a large industrial park. It is a dirty environment due to grain production and can have a smell at times. The culture is blue-collar, with workers traveling across the U.S. and working extensive hours. The team consists of one foreman and four fitters, emphasizing a cohesive and enjoyable work atmosphere. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, jeans, hard hat, safety glasses, and work gloves. The work hours are Monday to Friday, from 6 AM to 4 PM, with a minimum of 50 hours per week, subject to change.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00
