Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Job Description

This position will play a leadership role in the execution of proactive preventative maintenance and reliability strategies. The role involves analyzing maintenance and operating methods, as well as equipment failures, including root cause analysis, and implementing practices to cost-effectively improve on-stream equipment reliability. The engineer will effectively utilize maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution processes using the chosen computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in a safe manner, utilizing all safety equipment, and successfully completing all safety certification requirements.

  • Work with the Facilities Manager to develop, coordinate, and conduct technical reliability studies and evaluations to maintain equipment reliability.

  • Investigate and analyze relevant variables potentially affecting processes and assets.

  • Provide plant engineering with technical support on reliability issues.

  • Participate in engineering activities that improve the reliability of equipment.

  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis and Reliability Maintenance and preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Train employees in the value of maintenance reliability and actions required to increase operational efficiency.

  • Support and comply with all food safety, quality, and legality requirements.

  • May perform reasonably similar or related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Must be dedicated and ambitious.

  • Strong ability to plan and prioritize effectively.

  • Willingness to work off-hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

  • Familiarity with GMP, FDA, and OSHA regulations.

  • Knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems.

  • Ability to spend time in plant areas, including walking long distances, standing, climbing stairs and ladders, and moving through close spaces.

  • Understanding and alignment with plant GMP and personnel practice requirements.

  • Minimum of 10+ years of industrial maintenance and reliability engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in vibration, infrared, alignment, ultrasonic, motor circuit, and lubrication analysis.

  • Experience in rotating equipment, seals, piping, pumps, fans, blowers, and material handling equipment.

  • Project management skills.

  • Specific certifications: API 653 and API 510 familiarity.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial, or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience in a food-grade processing facility is a plus.

  • Field service experience with precision repairs and minimal oversight.

  • Maintenance engineer or mechanic experience, having worked their way up.

  • Alignment experience, knowledge of using a laser aligner, and basic understanding of lubrication.

  • Ability to manage external contractors and vendors independently.
