Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated General Production Worker for our packaging department. This role requires adherence to all food-related GMP and SOP guidelines. The position involves packing items on the lines for shipment, ensuring products are not damaged, and maintaining accurate records. Additionally, sanitation practices and maintaining a clean work area are essential. The work environment includes lifting heavy items, confined spaces, and hot non-AC areas.

Responsibilities

• Follow all food-related GMP and SOP guidelines.
• Pack items on the lines for shipment (dry powdered contents).
• Ensure items are not damaged or broken.
• Use ingredients correctly for mixing, coulter, apg, etc.
• Check weights and accurately record all lot and bag numbers used.
• Practice sanitation of the equipment due to food packaging.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Consistently lift 50-55 lbs at waist height or shift weight side to side.
• Work in confined spaces due to the age of the building.
• Work in hot environments in non-AC areas.
• Utilize heights (catwalks above machines).

Essential Skills

• Ability to lift 50-55 lbs on a consistent basis.
• Willingness to train on forklift usage in the future.
• Previous machine operation experience in manufacturing, batch mixing, and recipe reading.
• Basic mechanical inclination.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Mechanically inclined individuals who can perform basic maintenance tasks on machines.
• Experience in batch mixing or recipe reading.
• Knowledge of GMP in a food environment.
• Ability to read and write legibly.
• Math skills using decimals and fractions.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a large, older-style brick manufacturing building with additional locations across the street. The facility produces dry powder items, such as Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa mix, and requires adherence to GMP standards. The environment can be hot in certain areas, although the mixing area is air-conditioned. Employees will work shifts with potential overtime, and must wear uniforms and steel-toed boots. The job involves frequent stairs and walking due to the building layout.
