At Wolfrum Roofing and Exteriors LLC, the role of an Estimator of Commercial Roofing/Walls is crucial. Their main responsibility is to assess bid specifications and drawings, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the project requirements to make successful bids and win projects. They actively communicate with vendors and subcontractors to guarantee the timely receipt of bids. Furthermore, Estimators collaborate with customers to follow up on bids and budgets to close deals.

Essential Functions

  • Bid Administration
  • Prepares and maintains the status of plan reproduction.
  • Solicits and maintains communications with subcontractors and vendors
  • Prepares subcontractor's bid packages.
  • Prepares vendor material lists for pricing
  • Transmits addenda and other bid information to subcontractors
  • Ensures that we have the proper coverage from subcontractors and vendors on bid day
  • Contact vendor to obtain material quotes
  • Show creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Submits 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline-no exceptions
  • Log all relevant information

Project Knowledge

  • Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow-up questions on every bid.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the scope of the specific trades assigned
  • Minimize exclusions and deliver a complete pricing package to the customer
  • Include value engineering ideas with bids

Follow-up and closing

  • Consistently follows up on submitted bids and budgets with customers to close business.
  • Knows customers and develops relationships with architects, general contractors, construction managers, and property managers.

Project turnover

  • Properly turns over bid documents and vendor quotes to Project Management on time.
  • Review project documents with the Project Manager and highlight areas of concern.
  • Review job costs with the Project Manager team and highlight any subs/vendors of concern.

Build long-term relationships

  • Handle all subcontractor and vendor interactions in a manner that builds a long-term relationship.
  • Handle all customer interactions in a manner that builds long-term relationships.
  • Understand and act in a manner that develops a "one team" attitude within WRE. All WRE will speak to customers in "one voice."

Go the extra mile.

  • Ensure that WRE's proposals are competitive in the marketplace and have the most excellent chance of creating a work contract. This may require the employee to arrive early, stay late, or perform tasks not specifically outlined in the job description.
  • Double-check all critical work deliverables to minimize mistakes
