SUNY Delhi Long Island Regional Admissions Counselor in Delhi, New York

The Long Island Admissions Advisor position supports the enrollment management department in increasing enrollment in the Long Island Region. The role conducts in-person and online admissions appointments to drive applications, deposits, and enrollments to achieve forecasted objectives. The position responds to inquiries for on campus undergraduate program.

Additionally, this position directly supports on campus programs and communicates with students on admissions requirements, processes, and procedures. Additionally, the role prepares, processes, and reviews on campus undergraduate admissions applications to make independent decisions. This role assists in the day-to-day admissions and operations of the office, i.e. Phones, emails texts any and all meetings will be done via Zoom or teams. This position requires knowledge of each of the five academic schools as well as all student actives and general campus knowledge. In addition, this job requires knowledge of SUNY System and application process. Last this position requires a great deal of travel to all counties listed below. There may also be addition travel to help cover areas of New York if it is deemed necessary by the Sr. Admission Advisor or Director of Admissions.

Counties responsible for Travel and Application Review:

  • Nassau, Suffolk, NYC coverage if needed

Application review only:

  • Nassau, Suffolk, possible review for other areas

Daily duties include:

  • Day to day operations i.e. Phones, email, Text

  • Maintaining strong working relationships with Long Island Counselors

  • Maintaining strong working relationships with faculty and academic departments.

  • Reviewing applications for all counties listed above.

  • Working collaboratively with faculty, academic departments, EOP, CPASS, Athletics on recruitment of undergraduate students.

  • Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and procedures for undergraduate admissions.

  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with community college partners. Assisting with outreach and communications to prospective students to grow enrollment.

  • Maintaining and updating the personal travel admissions web pages.

  • Increasing knowledge of SUNY initiatives and how they correlate with this position.

  • Improving process efficiencies that enhance customer service satisfaction.

  • Involvement with the on-campus committee(s) and fostering of positive relationships with all student service areas that relate to admissions and enrollment.

  • Seeking professional development opportunities on and off campus to remain current in student recruitment opportunities.

  • During Fall (September -December) and Spring (March-June) Travel to local High Schools, Colleges, BOCES and Technical centers to recruit and educate students on SUNY Delhi.

  • Attend all Open house and Accepted student events on SUNY Delhi's campus

  • Create and operate all Yield events in Long Island

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evening and weekends

  • Must reside in Long Island/ or close surrounding area.

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to present in-person and virtually

  • Proficient with technology

  • Experience working with a diverse population, promoting an inclusive environment

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating with a team of admissions professionals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Previous experience in retrieving, interpreting and utilizing data

  • Proficiency in conversational Spanish

  • Experience using a Student Information System such as Banner, PeopleSoft, Datatel, etc

  • Experience using SLATE.

    Additional Information:

  • Salary: $53,151 + Possibility of Location Stipend

  • Budget Title: Admissions Advisor (SL3)

  • Reports to the Senior Admissions Counselor
