As Lead engineer you have the responsibility for all technical elements in our projects and sometimes act as the project manager. A central role in the team that asks for a broad spectrum in experience and interest in automation technology.

Siemens Cranes (https://xcelerator.siemens.com/global/en/industries/cranes.html) realize highly innovative and complex development projects. As lead engineer you can translate the goals of our customers. You are responsible for the right selections on a hardware and software level. This means making motor and frequency drive selection and discuss calculations with sales, but also having a good understanding of the software that controls our cranes and conveying our solutions to our clients. You will lead a team up to 10 colleagues (software, hardware and commissioning engineers) based in the Netherlands and in other countries e.g. Germany, China.

Your responsibilities:

  • The design of the overall solution and manage the acceptance of the system.

  • Participate in customer technical clarification workshops.

  • Ensure that safety and security standards are met and our solutions are matching regional safety standards.

  • Support pre-sales activities and support bid teams.

The engineering phase is your responsibility. We expect combined in total 2 to 3 weeks of traveling per year. But we won’t limit you to this, it is possible to be more involved in the execution. What we are looking for

  • Completed bachelor / master’s degree in electrical engineering or industrial automation.

  • Experience in a project management engineering environment as an engineer, including at least 5 years’ experience as a lead or senior engineer.

  • Experience with hardware selection and functional specifications for software.

  • Knowledge of and experience with SIMATIC S7 program language, TIA Portal, WinCC.

  • Knowledge and experience of industrial (Ethernet) networks and IT security.

  • Business fluent English, ideally you also speak (and write) Dutch.

  • Driver's license B.

  • Ability to travel for reasonable periods globally.
