SCOPE OF POSITION:

Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints to define schematics for entry level welders.

  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process.

  • prepare, weld, and fabricate metal structures and components

  • measure, cut, and assemble metal projects using an electric arc and inert gas.

  • inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.

  • may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot.

  • familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment.

  • label all parts in the correct method

  • maintain a time log of work progress

  • may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty.

  • additional duties as required

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • demonstrated ability to read blueprints

  • 5 years welding and fabrication experience proficiency

  • ability to MIG weld light and heavy gauge materials

  • ability to weld (grinding and finishing) according to AWS standards

  • ability to read a tape and cut material accurately

  • knowledge of safety procedures and ability to work safely

  • maintain clean working environment

  • fluent in English; Spanish speaking skills a plus
