The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are looking for a Construction Project Accountant be a part of our growing team in Denver, CO to drive financial processes and develop process improvement by engaging our internal and external customers. Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include:

Project Management and Process Improvement

  • Lead project level accounting efforts, including complete customer billings and tracking project costs.

  • Ensure quality of project financials.

  • Participate in efforts to improve capabilities, process improvement and technology that enable the team to scale effectively.

  • Maintain high integrity of crucial infrastructure data and solve important business problems through data analysis.

  • Analyze data for anomalies, trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Deliver accurate, high quality and timely results.

  • Manage administrative project workflow including active work and forecast work; backlog of work and be responsible for project deliverables within required deadlines.

  • Schedule, lead and/or coordinate meetings as requested and ensure tracking and follow‐up of resulting action items. Take meeting notes as needed.

  • Analyze and manage project operating expenses with third party suppliers, including obtaining internal financial approvals and controlling cash disbursements.

  • May perform other coordination activities as requested.

Cross-functional Relationships & Customer Satisfaction

  • Develop and maintain professional internal client relationships across departments and geographies.

  • Participate in cross-departmental and corporate committees and teams.

  • Coordinate project activities across team members and departments in a timely manner.

  • Serves as back-up to the Lead Business Operations Specialist as needed.

Communication

  • Communicate with and coordinate McKinstry internal resources to meet project deliverables.

  • Communicate with McKinstry internal clients as needed to achieve shared business objectives.

  • Responsible for communication and sharing of information and training on key business processes related to financial and project management.

  • Initiate purposeful outreach and connection across departments and regions.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Passion for architecture, engineering, accounting, consulting, or other professional services industry

  • Strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to learn quickly and build strong relationships.

  • Experience with business financials (e.g. billing) and data management preferred

  • Proficient with Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.

  • Substantial experience with Excel and some experience with SharePoint preferred.

The pay range for this position is $25.49 - $38.51 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
