Description Of Work: This position is responsible for supervising rail transit employees engaged in either mainline or yard operations, to ensure the safe and efficient operation of rail transit service. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules of the RTD Drug and Alcohol Policy. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruits staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures. Investigates accidents, incidents, disputes and disturbances and completes appropriate reports and necessary documentation. Assesses ability of LRV Operators to continue in service when investigating accidents, incidents and potential substance use problems. Interfaces with community groups, contractors and other area transit and municipal agencies. Trouble shoots Light Rail Vehicle problems and operates Light Rail Vehicles as required. Conducts time point and passenger load checks to ensure schedule and route efficiency. All other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED. A minimum of one year as a full-time train operator/engineer. One year of supervisory experience in railroad or transit operations preferred. Supervisory experience in railroad or transit operations is highly preferred and will be counted as exact experience. For all other types of supervisory experience, it will be considered similar. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Availability to work unusual hours, weekends and holidays. Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a Light Rail Vehicle Operator. Acceptable performance with the District in the past 24 months: No more than two Class C at fault infractions of the Performance Code. No Class A or B at fault infractions. No more than one at fault customer service complaint. No more than three absence occurrences or three tardies in a calendar year. Maximum of eight days absence (excluding approved Family/Medical Leave). No warning letters on file. No suspensions. Not more than six miscellaneous points. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to use sound judgment. Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details. OR: An equivalent combination of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
