As an Upstream Marketing Product Manager for Hologic’s Surgical Division, you will be responsible for the future pipeline by helping create innovative and world-class medical devices that fulfill customers’ needs in our hysteroscopic, laparoscopic, and pelvic health segments. By tapping into customer insights, you'll uncover unmet needs and craft compelling business cases to fuel the strategic growth and implementation of our products through innovation, both internal and external R&D, and business development. The position calls for a confident leader to develop insight-driven strategies, focus on execution, and collaborate effectively with others. You will be the marketing representatives on the product development teams from the concept phase through to commercialization. Strong collaboration across global regions and with functional departments such as R&D, clinical, regulatory, legal, sales, operations and consumer marketing will be necessary for success in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop global business cases for new market and concept ideas that include strategic fit, market sizing and financial modeling, definition of high-level unmet clinical needs, competitive landscape, commercial implications, and go or no-go recommendations.

  • Serve as the global marketing core team member for new product development from concept through to commercialization.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet milestones and ensure timely product launches with high quality.

  • Conduct regional and global market research to quantify the size of the addressable market.

  • Collect Voice of Customer (VOC) associated with identifying product needs and features.

  • Collaborate with product development (R&D) to establish unmet needs, translate to design specifications, and assist in validation activities.

  • Understand the competitive landscape, integrate business needs into the product, and ensure desired claims are in the marketing plan.

  • Work with finance and global regions to develop financial forecast models.

  • Develop comprehensive marketing plans including value proposition, messaging, essential claims, customer segmentation and targeting, pricing and evidence-based strategies.

  • Closely communicate with regional partners throughout the NPD (new product development) process to capture primary market needs and smoothly transition management of products in preparation for launch.

  • Partner with international/regional marketing to develop product launch strategy, required marketing materials, and global forecasts for new products.

  • Promote a culture of partnership with cross-functional teams while maintaining a shared level of urgency.

  • Assisted with business development commercial assessments, including input into forecasts and deal models.

  • Build a physician network to obtain VOC for projects and business opportunities.

  • Build strong relationships with downstream product marketing (globally), KOLs, medical advisory board members, and relevant societies.

  • Design and execute (internally or with a third party) qualitative and quantitative market research with customers and other key stakeholders.

  • Act as a change agent within the organization and bring best practices to the cross-functional teams.

  • Collaborate with the marketing leadership to develop the education strategy, tactics, and tools that support product launch and annual marketing plan objectives.

  • Familiar with global medical devices and FDA CE regulatory submission requirements

  • Ability to develop clinical expertise in the GYN surgical field – deep understanding of customer needs and R&D opportunities

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (able to make clear, impactful PPT slides)

  • Proven strong interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of health care compliance guidelines

  • Computer skills include PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Medicine, or a related field is required. MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 7+ years of upstream marketing and new product development experience required; medical device healthcare market experience preferred

  • Demonstrated excellence in Healthcare Professional and customer interfacing role

Additional Details

  • 30% travel required

The annualized base salary range for this role is $101,000 to $170,000 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
