Job Description
As a Principal Software Engineer at Oracle Health, you will play a critical role in developing backend systems that support our EHR solutions. You will work with cutting-edge technologies, including modern Java frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Micronaut, Quarkus), to design and implement scalable microservices and distributed architectures. Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using modern Java frameworks in a microservices architecture, ensuring scalability and high availability.
• Build and manage secure and efficient REST and GraphQL APIs, enabling seamless integration with external systems.
• Lead the implementation of distributed systems that handle large-scale data processing, optimizing performance and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare standards such as FHIR, HL7, and HIPAA, building systems that are interoperable across healthcare platforms.
• Integrate AI/ML models into backend services to enhance automation and data-driven insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, data scientists, and product managers, to deliver comprehensive solutions.
• Drive code quality through best practices, code reviews, and technical mentorship of junior engineers.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in backend technologies, cloud platforms, and healthcare software standards.
Requirements:
• 6-10 years of experience in backend or full stack development, with a strong focus on Java and modern Java frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Micronaut, Quarkus).
• Proven experience in designing scalable, distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Expertise in building RESTful and GraphQL APIs, with a deep understanding of security best practices.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience working with healthcare software standards like FHIR, HL7, and data compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
• Strong background in databases (SQL and NoSQL) and data management techniques.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure) and scalable infrastructure design.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead technical discussions and projects.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on delivering impactful solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with AI/ML integration in backend systems.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and data streaming tools (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Previous experience in healthcare IT and a deep understanding of EHR systems.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and related tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
