JOB SUMMARY Joining BKV as a Reservoir Simulation Engineer places you at the forefront of innovation, where you will orchestrate the development and simulation of reservoir models spanning both the Upstream and CCUS sectors. As an integral member of BKV’s subsurface teams, your role is pivotal in driving insights and recommendations for asset optimization to maximize reserves and profitability. In the Upstream business, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, leveraging your expertise to construct reservoir models that inform strategic decisions aimed at optimizing asset performance. This includes spearheading the optimization of frac designs through integrated workflows between frac design, nodal analysis, and reservoir simulation. For BKV’s CCUS business, you will be tasked with constructing and executing CO2 plume models, crucial for monitoring plume migration in CCUS projects. Your work will directly impact BKV's strategic goals, maximizing reserves, profitability, and environmental sustainability. This role is recognized as a subject matter expert in the work area. Manages large projects or processes, policies and standards under limited supervision. Coaches, reviews and delegates work to junior employees. Problems faced may be difficult and often complex. RESPONSIBILITIES Typical job responsibilities of the RESERVOIR SIMULATION ENGINEER include: • Build, calibrate, run, and refine reservoir simulation models for BKV's Upstream and CCUS projects. • Lead and contribute to integrated geo-modeling and reservoir simulation studies to enhance asset understanding and performance. • Collaborate with geoscience, engineering, operations, and third-party vendors/contractors to develop data-driven plans for reservoir management, incorporating industry best practices. • Monitor and optimize the performance of BKV’s oil and gas reservoirs and CCS projects, maximizing hydrocarbon recovery and ensuring safe CO2 storage. • Implement a strategic approach to model selection, knowing when to utilize reservoir simulation and analytical models effectively. • Integrate various modeling software into workflows to develop comprehensive asset development and depletion plans (e.g. PETEX IPM, Gohfer, Harmony/Kappa, PVTsim, etc.) • Mentor and train junior engineers in reservoir simulation modeling and other technical aspects, fostering a culture of continuous learning. • Serve as a technical advisor to management, offering insights on reservoir simulation best practices and emerging industry trends. • Provide modeling expertise to improve testing, data evaluations, and full field applicability assessments. • Analyze complex hydraulic fracture and completion design dynamics with stacked science diagnostics (i.e. fiber, sealed wellbore pressure monitoring, microseismic, erosion imaging, and production logging). • Assess significant reservoir uncertainties and present recommendations for risk mitigation. • Stay up to date on industry trends and advancements. • Other responsibilities as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS • Understanding of natural gas industry standards, market trends, emerging issues and regulatory requirements. • Proficiency in reservoir simulation software such as Eclipse, CMG, tNavigator, or equivalent. • Strong grasp of reservoir engineering fundamentals, uncertainty analysis, depletion planning, and numerical methods. • Applied oil and gas operations (e.g. production and completions) knowledge and experience is preferred. • Experience with additional reservoir engineering toolkits (e.g., PETEX IPM, Kappa Ecrin (Saphir), Nexus, Harmony, Gohfer) is a preferred. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and job-related applications, including advanced Excel and data analytics tools and technologies. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree required in petroleum engineering or a related discipline. Master’s degree or higher preferred. • Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS • This position is located in Denver, CO at BKV Headquarters. • This position is a hybrid work environment. • Some travel up to (20%) may be required • Indoor working environment that requires the ability to perform repetitive motions and operate standard office equipment. • May occasionally be exposed to distracting noise level while sharing office space with others. SALARY RANGE • $138,000 - $255,000
