Job Duties

Design, schedule and optimize delivery of Life of Asset mine and facilities consistent with regional strategic goals. Provide technical Risk and Optimization characterization at mine site level for Life of Asset plan. Partner with site Technical Services manager to produce annual budget, ensure plans, budgets and schedules are developed to meet business planning requirements. Develop long term planning talent and provide training, coaching and mentoring to mining engineers based at operation site. Systematically assess, evaluate and validate mine engineering work as part of internal quality control. Ensure mine planning and economic evaluation of Openpit mining maximizes the value of the business and opportunities to replicate best practices across sites and studies.

Position allows for partial remote work. Must live within commutable distance to Denver, CO. 25%-35% domestic travel to mining sites and 30%-50% international travel.

Position supervises: (1) Engineer Long Term Planning and (1) Engineer Trainee Long Term Planning

The base pay range for this position in Denver, CO is $154,523 to $164,523 per year per year plus standard company benefits.

Job Requirements

Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field and 7 years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience in the mining industry or any occupation in which the required experience was gained.

Must have some experience in each of the following skills: Utilize Mine Planning and Design software for OpenPits (Vulcan, Whittle, MinemaX); Utilize Vulcan platform to design and block model for scheduling and optimization of gold and copper-gold deposits; Perform unit cost analysis with emphasis on fixed/variable costing, benchmarking and optimization for CoG determination and Reserves Resource reporting; Apply Haulage simulation tools for estimation of mining fleet equipment requirements; Perform economic/cashflow analysis for reserves resources reporting and study or project evaluation for mine life extensions; Train and develop Long Term Project engineers in Whittle and Minemax for Openpit optimization and scheduling.
