Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in the construction/contractor industry, based in Denver, Colorado. The role involves processing accounting transactions, preparing financial reports, maintaining the general ledger, and assisting with audit preparations. This role will report directly to the Controller and work closely with the CFO as well. This is a small company, so the Senior Accountant will have exposure to a variety of different duties.

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial health of our construction projects. This position requires a strong background in accounting principles, exceptional attention to detail, and proficiency in Vista Viewpoint software is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry and be able to handle complex financial tasks with accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage and reconcile account balances, bank statements, and financial transactions.

  • Oversee project accounting, including job cost reports, work-in-progress schedules, and budget versus actual analysis.

  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls.

  • Coordinate with project managers and other departments to gather financial information and ensure accurate project costing.

  • Utilize Vista Viewpoint software for financial reporting, project management, and other accounting functions.

  • Assist with the annual audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff.

This role is 100% in office.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.

Proficiency in Vista Viewpoint software is highly preferred

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management.
