ENTRUST Solutions Group Sr. Project Engineer - Gas Facilities in Denver, Colorado

ENTRUST Solutions Group is seeking a Senior Project Engineer with Gas Compression and facility experience familiar with design and operation of associated equipment. Requires working in a hybrid model, as an embedded engineer at a major gas utility client and travel to compressor station and facilities within the operating region throughout CO.

In this position you’ll provide engineering support and troubleshooting to a diverse workforce of Gas Operations, various engineering specialties including Instrumentation and Controls, Gas Measurement, Project Managers and Management. The Sr. Project Engineer is responsible for performing engineering design, codes and standards compliance and incorporating functionality for use and maintenance for a variety of engineering equipment found within natural gas facilities. The Sr. Project Engineer will also oversee the development of projects in initiating scope/schedule/budget estimates and assists the Project Manager with scoping work for input into future year capital budget plans. Leads other engineers on engineering assignments to develop required project deliverables consistent with project goals.

Please note: This position will require three days a week on the client site (typical Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads small, medium, large, or multi-discipline complex projects and directs the activities of other engineering subcontractors and design/drafting personnel.

  • Works closely with client management team to solicit feedback from field operations on gas system needs and works to incorporate into upcoming budget plans.

  • Provides technical expertise on gas compressors, regulator stations, meter sizing, piping design and gas odorant equipment.

  • Initiates capital projects to be implemented thru a gated execution process by developing scope, schedule and budget drafts that are evaluated for cost/benefit return on investment.

  • Works with Gas Engineering & Operations to conduct risk assessments on critical assets within the natural gas system, identifying areas for improvement and recommends associated investments.

  • Interacts independently with clients, estimates proposals, and understands the role of business development in operations goals

  • Leads Engineering Design Reviews with relevant stakeholders, documenting feedback, and individual approvals for active projects prior to Issue for Construction.

  • Provides input to Project Managers and leadership concerning potential process and design improvements

  • Ensures that the quality control process is followed, including documentation utilizing the QRT (Quality Review Tracking) process for engineering, formatting, and independent reviews

  • Assists in proposal development, including estimating project budgets, and engaging Design Coordinators and other SMEs as appropriate

  • Assists Project Manager in ensuring tasks are being started and completed on time and within budget, and in forecasting fee revenue

  • Self-checks work assignments prior to submitting for review, completes work with minimal errors. Participates in peer reviews and QC reviews.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited university

  • Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in Natural Gas consulting

  • Minimum of 1+ years of work experience supporting complex gas facility and/or compression station engineering projects in the Natural Gas (Gas Transmission and Midstream)

  • Strong communication and people interface skills to explain operating requirements to non-technical personnel, ability to actively listen, work with and troubleshoot needs of Operations personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in engineering principles and concepts relevant to your field; to include mechanical, electrical, civil, instrumentation and controls, and automation

  • Preferred Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Knowledge in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques; to include develop project plans, developing a design basis, create schedules in Gantt chart format, allocate resources, and monitor progress to ensure successful project completion

  • Knowledge of common software programs such as Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, Navisworks

  • Demonstrate leadership skills to motivate co-workers, provide guidance, resolve conflicts, delegate tasks, and foster a collaborative work environment

  • Skill to be a strong analytical problem solver

  • Ability to identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them; to include risk assessments, develop contingency plans, monitor and manage risks through projects

  • Ability to ensure that projects meet or exceed quality standards; to include interdependently work with and lead others produce products/services

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and collaborate with various stakeholders; maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, supplies, coworkers

  • Ability to stay up to date with the latest advancements and industry trends

  • Benefits & Salary: This position pays between $95,000 and $123,000 annually and is an exempt position.

  • Benefits offered include company sponsored medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plan with company match. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts and FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts are also available. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually.

  • Full time employees are eligible to earn PTO hours.

  • May be eligible for discretionary bonus as determined by the company.
