The Stormwater Project Engineer is a pivotal performer in the success of Fiore & Sons’ Erosion Control department. The Stormwater PE is responsible for ensuring that all Erosion Control work performed meets the standards of best practices and adheres to all Stormwater permitting guidelines. Ideally, the Stormwater Project Engineer is well-versed in Erosion Control Best Management Practices and has experience with silt fencing, sediment control logs, erosion control blankets, and other EC practices. The Stormwater PE is detail-oriented as well as highly skilled at communication and organization, guaranteeing that all work is accurate and all stakeholders are well-informed.

COMPENSATION

$32.40 to $45.38 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out daily stormwater discharge inspections for each active work site to ensure job site and permitting compliance.

  • Communicate to HSE recommended daily updates to site stormwater management plan (SWMP).

  • Track and record project information to include daily job progress and completion of tasks.

  • Examine contract drawings, specifications and addenda for design deficiencies, impractical details and possible code violations, and bring these to the attention of the CCM Site Superintendent, Project Manager, responsible person, or project owner to determine improvement needs or RFIs.

  • Communicate inspection findings to responsible parties to support the maintenance and repair of stormwater BMP’s.

  • Assist with the management of stormwater permits.

  • Provide leadership and establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships among all operating units, trades, vendors, and subcontractors.

  • Maintain and complete accurate daily project progress reports.

  • Assist with install, maintenance, and removal of BMP methods and materials on an as needed basis, such as:

  • Silt Fencing

  • Sediment Control Logs

  • Erosion Control Blankets

  • Remove sediment and other materials from flow line, inlets, and outfall structures, as appropriate.

  • Potentially operate a variety of tools and machines such as power drills, hand saws, pressure washers, blowers, shovels, pics, sledgehammers, and hand staplers.

  • Take initiative to seek opportunity on the jobsite with tasks such as design, coordination, and quality items that can be put into action

  • Care for tools used on work sites and keep them in safe and clean working order.

  • Load and unload materials, equipment, and tools.

  • Maintain positive working relationships.

  • Check primary email on a regular basis for any communication from the company, as this is the company’s primary mode of communication.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Significant understanding of Stormwater and Erosion Control Best Management Practices with verifiable experience in the field.

  • Top-notch communication skills with the ability to effectively, respectfully, and positively interact with supervisors, team members, project owners, and other project stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile and write necessary reports.

  • Strong multi-tasking ability, given multiple simultaneous projects and the requirement to jump consistently between projects and stakeholders and deal patiently and accurately with constant interruptions.

  • Extremely self-motivated with the ability to take the lead on assignments as well as follow instructions and work within parameters of excellency established by leadership.

  • Understanding of federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and reporting processes and procedures related to Stormwater Management.

  • Good safety history, including a passable MVR, and willingness to engage and contribute to ongoing safe work practices, including the use of PPE with the ability to safely perform physical and manual work including the operation of company vehicles.

  • Initiative, ownership, and follow-through, with a can-do attitude and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and responsibilities.

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft Office products and other necessary software.

  • Willingness to engage in ongoing training to ensure updated level of knowledge in field.

  • Consistent access to a reliable personal email account.

Preferred

  • Certification as Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time on various terrain, including slopes and uneven ground, and regularly push, pull, shovel, bend to pick up, and lift items 25 to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Outside work exposed to variant weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow) and muddy ground conditions.
