Job Summary

The Supervisor, Clinical Staff - Correctional Care supervises and coordinates clinical functions performed in assigned unit(s). Assigns and distributes work to clinical staff. Performs administrative support functions for management by assisting with administrative and staff details. Mentors and coaches' staff, performs employee performance reviews, and initiates disciplinary action when necessary. The Correctional Care staff provides care at either the Downtown Detention Center or the Denver County Jail. These environments of care have a higher level of clinical acuity and environmental hazard than inpatient and ambulatory settings based on the nature of the facility. The detention centers employ a high level of security, which impacts daily working conditions, including both personal and institutional safety and operations. Environmental awareness, critical thinking, and decisive, decision-making skills are required in the correctional care setting.

Essential Functions:

Supervises and coordinates the activities of Dental Assistants, Medical Assistants, Radiology Technicians; determines work procedures and expedites work flow; assigns duties and reviews work; prepares necessary and required reports to leadership team. (20%) Offers clear direction to employees regarding expectations for completing the work assignments. Reviews the employees work performance periodically and gives the employee feedback on how their work compares to expectations. Makes suggestions to the employees on the timeliness and quality of their work, and give suggested recommendation for improvement when necessary. Provides the employee with the tools and training they need to meet the expected performance. (20%) Manages dental clinics, x-ray scheduling, biomed annual checks, and yearly equipment testing. (10%) Quality Control: monitors quality of medical devices, supplies, ensure products are maintained, serviced, meets standards, improving and safety. Monitors on site Labs, lab products, sterile processing (instruments), ensures working environment is safe for staff and patients (EOC/work orders), Data for CQI/reports/accreditation, and counts for Reviews Policies and Procedures as applicable to role. (10%) Maintains ordering for department medical, lab, equipment and office supplies. (10%) Develops and maintains educational trainings for new equipment and lab testing. (10%) Liaison between the hospital and Denver Sheriff's Department regarding Biohazed. Schedules pick up and orders supplies. (10%) Education:

High School Diploma or GED Required Bachelor's Degree Preferred Work Experience:

4-6 years Clinical experience Required 1-3 years supervisory or lead experience preferred Licenses:

BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required BLSI-Basic Life Support Instructor - AHA - American Heart Association Required CCHP-Certified Correctional Health Professional - NCCHC - National Commission on Correctional Healthcare Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. Ability to supervise patient registration and charge entry performance. Knowledge of time and attendance editing practices. Skilled in scheduling to meet departmental/unit needs and comply with departmental scheduling standards. Skilled in organization and setting priorities. Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail. Application of critical thinking skills. Skill in organizing and managing one's time. A ility to analyze data. Ability to develop systems to support effective management of own workload and workload of staff. Ability to lead/supervise staff, evaluate employee performance, teach and coach, and address employee problems with tact and straight forwardness. Ability to make decisions within the scope of authority. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred Knowledge of a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, SMS/INVISION, Healthtrack, Medicaid Web Portal, Property locators, and LifeLink scheduling. Knowledge of Electronic Document Management (EDM). Knowledge of data entry systems and computer skills (MS Office).
