Aerotek General Laborer - Demolition in Des Moines, Iowa

Job Type: Contract to Hire / Full-time

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Pay: $16 hour starting wage (Growth Opportunities Available)

Job Description:

Currently seeking a General Laborer to join our demolition team. In this role, you will assist with general interior and exterior site clean-up within demolition projects. Your main duties will include loading concrete, transporting materials, and ensuring the worksite is kept clean and safe for the team. The position involves physically demanding tasks and requires a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and team collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general site clean-up duties, including sweeping and vacuuming.

  • Load concrete and other debris into wheelbarrows and transport it to dumpsters.

  • Dispose of materials in dumpsters and manage waste removal as needed.

  • Ensure the worksite remains clean and safe following demolition tasks.

  • Be punctual, arriving at the job site by 6:45 AM every day.

  • Assist with any additional tasks assigned by the foreman or supervisor.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience: At least 6 months of construction, demolition, or labor experience.

  • Physical Ability: Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly.

  • Stamina: Capability to remain upright and physically active for 8-10 hours a day.

  • Punctuality: Reliability in arriving at the job site on time (6:45 AM).

  • Teamwork: Ability to work well within a team and follow directions from the foreman.

Work Environment:

  • The role involves assisting with both interior and exterior structural demolition projects across Iowa.

  • Daily meeting at the shop to carpool to job sites.

  • The standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

  • PPE (personal protective equipment) is provided, except for steel-toed boots, which employees are required to supply.

  • Dress code includes jeans and work-appropriate shirts (no cut-off tees).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $13.00 - $16.00
