Position Description

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and resourceful Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our team of passionate and driven HR professionals in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The HRBP will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, helping to plan and administer important functions such as staffing, employee relations, supervisory support and development, and compensation and benefits.

Location: 1111 E Court Ave, Des Moines, IA 50319, with some travel within the State of Iowa

Hours:Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P

The salary range for this position is $65,416.00 to $106,433.60, and while we typically start new State employees at the start of the range, the selected candidate’s experience and education may be taken into consideration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations.

  • Participate in the development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for branch requirements.

  • Administer benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs.

  • Suggest new procedures and policies to continually improve the efficiency of the HR department and the organization.

  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary.

  • Conduct investigatory interviews and provide guidance on disciplinary process; may include travel to locations within the State of Iowa.

  • Drive new hire onboarding process by coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional experience.

  • Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, offboarding, and new hire orientations, including data entry into Workday (our current Human Resources Information System) and performing audits for accuracy and compliance.

  • Provide a dedicated and effective HR advisory service to employees that covers absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational change, and all other employee relations matters.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an HR generalist.

  • Alternatively, a combination of education and experience to equal 6 years.
