Principal Financial Group Senior Product Manager 1 in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our Information Security and Risk team. In this role, you will focus on our Data Protection Program, driving Data Security and Records Management solutions that protect our company and customer records and data.

  • Support and implement our strategy in alignment with Principal’s Data Protection objectives.

  • Mature product practices and drive outcomes while collaborating with business stakeholders, architecture and technology teams.

  • Provide product leadership and subject matter expertise to the data protection program, proactively defining measurable outcomes and key results.

  • Create, refine, and prioritize program backlogs and roadmaps aligned to outcomes and key results. Monitor value delivery along the way to completion and participate in solution validation.

  • Analyze data and build metrics to advise and improve company’s data security posture and records management practices.

  • Build strong partnerships across enterprise teams. Garner support, trust, and engagement to proactively overcome barriers to stay product centric.

  • Be comfortable not having all the answers. Leadership will support you making small bets and embrace experimentation. Be curious and open to learning.

  • Challenge status quo, encourage innovation, be forward-thinking and approachable. Influence, lead and collaborate well with all partners.

  • Encourage and bring diverse views together to solve problems in an innovative way.

Who You Are

  • 6+ years of business, technology, or product management experience; or equivalent demonstrated through the following: work experience, military experience, or education.

  • Experience partnering with technology teams and business stakeholders

  • Ability to optimize products within a portfolio (create vision and market that vision)

  • Experience to develop and mature a product, build product strategy

  • Experience working in an agile, scrum environment

  • Superb communication skills, including the ability to establish relationships and influence business partners

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Experience with Data Security and technology solutions (Data Loss Prevention and CASB solutions such as Proofpoint, Zscaler or similar products), Encryption and Key Management Solutions (such as HashiCorp Vault, AWS KMS), Data Security Controls and Configurations or Posture Management Solutions (Guardium, Wiz, BigID, Cyera, Varonis).

  • Experience with Records Management, Data Lifecycle Management or Records Retention practices and solutions (Virgo, RecordPoint, Zasio, etc).

  • Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, AZURE, GCP) is preferred

  • Data management experience.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$123000 - $167000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
