Robert Half Staff Accountant in Des Plaines, Illinois
Description Robert Half is searching for an efficient Staff Accountant to join their growing team on a permanent basis. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, various aspects of internal reporting will be under your responsibility. You will lend your skills in assisting the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Major responsibilities
Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision
Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management
Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation
Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner
Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request
Manage intercompany reconciliation, billings, and transactions Requirements - Less than one year of experience required
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Command of journal entries
Deep understanding of Sage Intacct
Microsoft Excel experience desired
Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Experience with ERP systems
