As an Asset and Inventory Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the organization's assets and inventory, ensuring proper management, tracking, operational support, and utilization. Your role will involve maintaining accurate records, optimizing inventory levels, and implementing efficient asset management processes based on the business needs.

You will be seen as a partner to the operational leaders to support their asset and inventory responsibilities. The Asset and Inventory Managerwill report directly to the VP of Maintenance & Repair and will focus on serving as a strategic consultant to the GVP.

The selected candidate must live in or near the greater Detroit, Michigan area or has the ability to travel there for one week per month.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an asset management system to track the organization's physical and digital assets.

  • Conduct regular audits to verify the accuracy and condition of assets.

  • Establish protocols for asset acquisition, allocation, transfer, and disposal.

  • Collaborate with departments to assess asset requirements and ensure timely procurement.

  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules to prolong asset lifespan and minimize downtime.

  • Monitor asset utilization and recommend strategies for optimization and cost savings.

Inventory Control

  • Oversee inventory levels and replenishment processes to meet operational demands.

  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of inventory items.

  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between records and physical stock.

  • Implement inventory management systems to streamline processes and improve accuracy.

  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, forecast demand, and minimize excess or obsolete stock.

  • Develop inventory control policies and procedures to maintain compliance and minimize losses.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of assets, inventory transactions, and related documentation.

  • Generate reports on asset utilization, inventory levels, and performance metrics.

  • Provide insights and analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.

  • Communicate inventory and asset-related information to stakeholders and management as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to asset and inventory management.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in asset and inventory management.

  • Implement best practices and technological solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives to optimize supply chain and asset lifecycle management.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes affecting asset and inventory management practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.

  • Proven experience in asset management, inventory control, or supply chain management.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.

  • Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in asset management or inventory control (e.g., CMRP, CPIM).

  • Experience in implementing asset tracking technologies.

  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., FRA).

  • Experience in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
