DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES

The Human Resource Specialist will process payroll and personnel information in a timely manner while adhering to Civil Services Commission rule and regulations and collective bargaining agreements and support clerical functions, as needed. This position serves as the central human resources bridge to several county departments and responds to inquiries from them. Oftentimes, special projects with a sense of urgency are assigned as priorities over other responsibilities.

Task

  • Enter payroll actions into PeopleSoft
  • Update employee personal information
  • Interpret contractual language regarding salaries, benefits, etc.
  • Work with departments in processing of time entry/payroll.
  • Perform audit of leave bank balances or salary history upon request from employee or department liaison.
  • File paperwork in employment files
  • Other duties as assigned.

ELIGIBLE PERSONS

At the time of application, eligible persons must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources or closely related field or a combination of education and experience equivalent and one year of HR/payroll experience; OR
  • Five (5) years of HR/payroll experience and a high school diploma/GED
