Project Coordinator, Opioid Crisis Response
The opioid overdose epidemic is an urgent public health crisis that disproportionately affects the City of Detroit. In response to this crisis, the City – alongside its partners in the community and at the federal, state, and county levels – has worked to expand substance use disorder prevention and community education; harm reduction services like naloxone distribution, naloxone training, and syringe service programs; and access to high-quality substance use disorder treatment. However, gaps in services remain, and many Detroit residents who use substances have inadequate access to prevention, treatment, recovery, and holistic wraparound services.
The City of Detroit is seeking a project coordinator to:
perform research, analysis, and/or writing to help develop and execute opioids response programs;
complete project management tasks to ensure effective and prompt implementation of City programs;
coordinate meetings (scheduling, agenda, and notes);
facilitate interactions between partners and stakeholders;
monitor and maintain program data sets; and
generate reports for the City’s Opioid Crisis Response program.
The project coordinator will report to the Opioid Crisis Response Program Manager and work closely with other senior staff in the Mayor’s Office.
The City is using settlement funds for targeted, strategic, and innovative programs that reduce overdose mortality, help individuals enter treatment or access harm reduction services, and support long-term recovery. The use of settlement funds will also complement City priorities in improving services for unhoused individuals and mental health resources.
