Job Description Summary#TeamAAM is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Metal Forming team in Detroit, Michigan!

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will work with AAM plants to aid in new product launches, process improvements, and troubleshooting. Their focus will be on differentials, net forged differential gears, and all associated processes. This individual will have the opportunity to design all aspects of a forging process (forged part, sequence of operations, tooling, and material handling), working with a growing product line that supports both ICE and EV vehicle architectures. They will get on-the-job training to understand and learn forging design.

Job Description Develops manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by studying manufacturing plans and commitments; evaluating manufacturing processes and requirements. Recommends new manufacturing equipment by identifying vendors and operating equipment, including control devices; evaluating equipment capabilities and service history; evaluating vendor service and support. Supports and completes equipment cost projections by analyzing forging design, complexity, and overall manufacturing process along with investment, return, and savings. Monitors equipment installations by advising crews. Meets production requirements by designing tooling improvements, automation improvements, reducing scrap, improving tool life, standardizing work procedures and pursuing equipment modifications with suppliers. Prepares equipment operators by conducting training; providing reference and support resources. Maintains process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines. Maintains equipment records by filing documents; updating equipment database. Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches. Contributes to engineering and success of the organization by welcoming related, different, and new requests; being open minded and helping others accomplish job results. All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering. Proficient in CAD/modeling software. Working experience with NX preferred. Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment, as well as corporate office setting. Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings. Understanding of GD&T and other dimensioning and tolerancing conventions. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% locally and internationally.
