Aerotek ((Warehouse) Materials Supervisor in Detroit, Michigan

Job Description:

Responsible as the leader of the Supply Chain floor team. This position is a people leader position and will have direct reports. This position will work cross functionally with all of the production teams and support their needs and requirements. Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision making and is accompanied by a high level of independent judgment.

Shift Leader

Responsible for material flow activity (the physical movement of material from receipt through shipment)

• SME knowledge for the SLT Basket Weave Team.

• Work with UAW counterparts to establish the GM behaviors.

• Audits department records for employees, Safety documents, Ergonomics, Suggestions, Grievances, Training, Vacation, Attendance and overtime,

• Implements, monitors and maintains GMS initiatives within the Department

• Assures compliance to internal control procedures

• Supports production organization

• Develops standardized work

• Develops subordinates

• Develops and maintains labor relationships

• Supervises floor operation

• Coordinates development of the BPD for floor operations

• Follows up and prepares required documentation for BPD reporting

• Participates in department/functional Gap Closures Planning Process

• Documents plans/ideas for future years BPD

• Provides input into budget development based on annual plans

• Reviews and approves manpower plans (GMOS)

Problem solving and maintaining performance when faced with challenges on the job

Direct supervision/management of employee's, preferably in a union environment,

Looking for candidates that come from an Automotive UAW manufacturing/assembly/warehousing environment

  • must demonstrate ability to lead, motivate, and perform progressive discipline (verbal counseling, write up, termination)

  • must be willing, able, not afraid to hold UAW team members accountable and work through progressive discipline process up to and including termination of employees, this is the number 1 most important skill (very hard for someone that comes from a non union environment to excel in this area)

Experience leading process improvements or special projects

  • examples of when they have identified and implemented process improvements or lead special projects as a supervisor/manager

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00
