About the Position

Lane County Developmental Disabilities Services is seeking to fill a DD Specialist position that will focus on Child Foster Home (CFH) Certification, Recruitment, and Retention. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities!

The position will work closely with our other foster certifier to support the initial and renewal certification of CFH Providers. This position will also will also take a lead role to recruit new CFH Providers by engaging and creating community visibility and networking opportunities. It will also be a focus of this position to promote the retention of our existing CFH community by coordinating training opportunities, peer support networks, and social engagement opportunities to strengthen this vital resource for some of our community's most vulnerable children.

This position will travel to foster homes on a routine basis throughout Lane County to ensure foster homes are operating in compliance with state rules and regulations. In addition, they offer support and guidance to foster providers to help ensure the health, well-being, and safety of the children residing in the homes is being met. They also serve as advocates for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting the delivery of safe and appropriate supports, and emphasizing the importance of honoring the children's rights and age-appropriate self-determination. Though this position spends a significant amount of time off-site at certified foster homes, there may be opportunities for partial teleworking.

About the Division

Lane County Developmental Disabilities Services strives to provide a responsive, cooperative lifespan delivery system of support, training, care, monitoring, protection and crisis response for persons with developmental disabilities and their families. Services are designed to maximize opportunities for self-determination and self-sufficiency.

Schedule: 8am - 5pm Monday-Friday with 1 hour break. Opportunities for partial telework and flexible scheduling after initial 3 month training period

QUALIFICATIONS

Training:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

One year of experience of working with persons with developmental disabilities.

An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Special Requirements:

A strong candidate for this position will have experience in recruitment and retention as well as the deliver of Developmental Disabilities Services.
