A prominent services company is looking to grow its team by hiring a Controller through Robert Half. The leadership position is responsible for an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the DFW, Texas region.

Responsibilities

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations

  • Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

    Requirements - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Excellent verbal, written, and social skills

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
