Summary
The purpose of the Electrician is to maintain, diagnose, repair, rebuild, adjust, perform preventative maintenance, and install electrical equipment within and around the facilities to keep the production operational and have zero loss of production chargeable to electrical maintenance. Responsible for carrying out the assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Read, write and follow manufacturer’s manuals on installation, maintenance, repair and overhaul of electrical.
Must be able to size and calculate jobs with a knowledge and understanding of N.E.C.
Read, understand, interpret and draw electrical schematics and blueprints.
Must know shop math and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Communicate as necessary to all other Electricians daily issues, fixes, needed repairs, emergency repairs, as well as any needed scheduled repairs needed for weekend work.
Coordinate with contractors on necessary repairs and projects.
Knowledge of general National Electrical Code (NFPA 70, 70E, 70B, &79)
Perform assigned tasks efficiently with minimum supervision as directed by management.
Be proficient and able to repair, install and maintain control circuits and motors, three phase: 480/277 VAC, 240/120 VAC, and 208/120 VAC and single-phase volts: 120 volts.
Supervise and direct electrical installation, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, machinery, and plant facilities as well as trouble-shoot and diagnose electrical problems within the plant and/or facilities.
Must be able to trouble-shoot and diagnose problems.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience. 2 years technical college is preferred.
Experience Requirements
1 - 2 years electrical experience.
Must possess knowledge of electrical motors and controls.
Reading, writing, math and analytical skills required.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Must be able to move throughout assigned areas of responsibility carrying required equipment and tools to perform trouble shooting procedures, repairs and preventative maintenance.
Must be able to reach vertical heights up to 150' to perform repairs, preventative maintenance and monitor equipment both open and in confined spaces.
Must be able to work outside in all seasonal weather, stand for 8 to 14 hours.
Exposure to air born dust, chemicals, such as hexane, caustic sode, butanone, ethanol and aluminum chloride.
When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db.May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
May need to climb ladders.
