Job Description

The opportunity

Implement Compliance Regulatory Framework

•Assist the Corporate Compliance function, the primary responsibility of the incumbent is to provide independent advice, guidance and oversight to business operations and assists in assessing and confirming that adequate controls are in place and are operating effectively in order to manage and mitigate regulatory compliance risk.

•Assist to implement regulatory compliance program and the three-lines of defence model with compliance being the second line according to the Manulife corporate requirements. Timely update the regulatory requirements and issues in the corporate compliance management system and compile quarterly compliance reports to Asia Compliance.

•Keep abreast of the new laws, regulations, codes and guidelines issued by the Government and the regulators including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Investment and Trade, Insurance Association. Be proactive and stay on top of the business initiatives and ensure that local regulatory compliance and Manulife corporate requirements are complied with and incorporated in the business process and sufficient compliance controls are set up.

•Prepare regulatory updates including impact rating assessment and communicate the regulatory requirements to the management and relevant stakeholders

•Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to identify the gaps and prepare remediation action plans to address the gaps.

•Incorporate the regulatory requirements into relevant business processes.

•Prepare relevant regulatory reporting to Regulator, Senior Management team and Asia Compliance.

•Where incidents arise, advise the business the mitigating action to be taken and minimize reputational and regulatory compliance impact. Escalate significant incidents promptly to management and Asia Compliance.

•Provide regulatory advisory and support to business initiatives and projects in particular providing advice on regulatory and corporate compliance requirements (i.e. outsourcing, privacy, record management and information security etc.). In addition to good knowledge on general compliance, to move in tandem with the fast evolving business pace, practical problem-solving skill, interpersonal and communication skills are also essential.

•Assist to support the business in the launch of new products, operation process, sales and marketing initiatives. Understand their needs and objectives and perform the necessary compliance review and provide advice on controls, sales model, product disclosure and marketing materials.

•Promote compliance culture in the business and provide training to the company employees and agents on regulatory compliance requirements and Manulife corporate requirements including launch of e-training and awareness program.

•Assist with compliance examination and testing function in Vietnam. Document the review and testing results with Manulife record management standard.

•Any other tasks assigned by Head of Compliance, or Chief Legal & Compliance Officer.

Implement Compliance Policy Requirements

• Be responsible to implement and review the compliance policy requirements (Anti Money Laundering, FATCA, Data Privacy, Social Media, Record Management, etc) in the daily business activities.

• Keep abreast of the new laws, regulations, codes and guidelines issued by Regional Office and ensure the compliance to policies and processes;

• Implement compliance examination program. Timely update the regulatory requirements and issues in the corporate compliance management system and compile quarterly compliance reports to Regional Compliance.

• Support the business in the launch of new products, operation process, sales and marketing initiatives. Understand their needs and objectives and perform the necessary compliance review and provide advice on controls, sales model, product disclosure and marketing materials.

• Increase the efficiency of the implementation of all compliance policies.

Compliance Awareness

• Run initiatives, campaign and training raise awareness for all staff and agents regarding Compliance matters;

• Set up training program throughout the year to deliver the training program to respective audience;

• Provide users with high-quality templates that can be easily customized based on their needs

• Further simplify training materials and cater more to the audiences

What we are looking for

  • EDUCATION / TRAINING: University graduated, Background in Law is a plus, LOMA qualification is a plus, Fluent English

  • EXPERIENCE: 1-4 year experiences in Legal/ Compliance/ Audit/Internal Control.

  • COMPETENCIES: Confident & Transparent, Independent, Open-minded, Good communication skills.
