Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a Cable Infrastructure Technician to support the CITS contract for USCENTCOM, located in Doha, Qatar. We are looking for an experienced Cable Infrastructure Technician with a solid background and must be able to work in an active working environment with little or no disruption to customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Cable Infrastructure Technician will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting issues with Link Runner AT2000 cable testers.

  • Installing cabling infrastructure under floors or in ceilings.

  • Ensure cables are properly labeled and identified.

  • Complete work orders using Remedy online system.

  • Patch network cables in Telecommunications Rooms on multiple levels of classifications and networks.

Education and/or Certifications: Required:

  • No BS/BA degree required but a high school diploma is preferred and BICSI certifications are preferred.

Desired:

  • BICSI certifications are preferred or applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification

  • Familiarity with the USCENTCOM mission and areas of responsibility

Required Skills:

  • Proven work experience as a Cable Technician or similar role with 5+ years’ experience installing, terminating, patching & splicing Fiber optic cables and Copper (CAT5/6) Ethernet cables.

  • Must know how to terminate fiber optic cables of various types (Single-mode vs. Multi-mode OM3) and know fiber optic color code.

  • Knowledge of fiber optic connectors LC, SC, MTRJ, ST and must be able to use a RJ45 crimper & punch-down tool for terminating copper as well as T568B color code.

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and must be able to work under floors and on ladders on a daily basis.

  • Must be willing to travel CONUS & OCCONUS up to 10% each year.

  • Must have a valid Passport with expiration greater than 6 months.

Clearance Requirement:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance required and U.S. citizenship is required due to TS/SCI clearance requirement

Travel Requirements:

  • Required to live and work in Doha, Qatar as your home base for this role, but there may be additional travel for USCENTCOM Exercise support of up to 10% during the year to other OCONUS locations.

The likely salary range for this position is $76,500 - $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
